Marine Society and Sea Cadets are recruiting a full time Maritime Programmes, Welfare and Development Officer to work as a member of our MSSC National Support Centre, London team. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,000 – £30,000 gross per annum.?Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is the leading maritime charity for youth development and lifelong learning. Sea Cadets impacts more than 14,000 young people across the UKThe Welfare and Development Officer Role?Britain’s oldest maritime charity, the Marine Society are seeking a creative individual who wants to make a difference to the lives of maritime professionals. You will be a highly effective communicator, numerate with good IT skills and an eye for detail. We are a friendly, values-based organisation offering flexible working and generous benefits. The role is located in central London.Key areas you will focus on as a Welfare and Development Officer include:- Support and develop the range of Marine Society services for maritime professionals and seafarers including training and mentoring programmes.- Assist in providing an effective and efficient bookshop and library service to individuals, ships and maritime organisations- Identify opportunities and promote LearnSea courses to potential users and the Coming Ashore programme to seafarers, employers and other potential stakeholdersWhat we're looking for in our ideal Welfare and Development Officer:- Good general level of formal education (including English and mathematics GCSE Grade C or above)- Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications and virtual meetings software- Experience of working in a customer facing role, including handling a wide range of enquiries by telephone and email- Experience of basic database maintenance and management- Able to work both as a team and unsupervised- Experience of maintaining physical and electronic records and filing systems- Knowledge of data protection regulations and good practice- Experience of managing and prioritising own work and meeting deadlinesIn return as our Welfare and Development Officer you will receive:- 25 days’ annual leave pro rata- Training opportunities and professional development- Pension Scheme- Life Insurance- Private Medical Insurance- Employee Assistance Programme- Season ticket loans- Eye CareClosing Date: 19th August 2022 If you feel you have the skills and experience to become our Welfare and Development Officer then please click “apply” below – we’d love to hear from youApplications should consist of a CV and a supporting statement.
